In Celebration of Earth Day, Special Service Area (SSA) 27 is inviting you to join us for a host of Earth Day Happenings in West Lakeview at the Lakeview Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20 from 10am-2pm.

Southport Green Hub 

For one day only, the Southport Low-Line Plaza at 3410 N Southport will become the hub for all things Earth Day. Join us for FREE activities, giveaways, coffee/hot chocolate, and informational booths from local sustainable living non-profits to help guide you on how to better live an urban sustainable lifestyle. Currently confirmed partners include WasteNot Compost and Organizing for Plastic Alternatives.

Electronics Recycling 

Did you know that electronic waste contributes 70% of toxic waste in the US? Bring your old electronics to the St. Alphonsus Parking Lot at 1456 W Oakdale Ave from 10am-2pm, and work together with SSA 27 and Newtech E-scrap Recycling Inc for responsible electronics recycling. Commonly recyclable items include computer equipment, personal electronics, office equipment and industrial equipment. See here for a complete guide on acceptable items for tech recycling.

Southport Community Clean-Up

Starting at the Southport Green Hub at 3410 N Southport, attendees are invited to volunteer in picking up litter and preserving the beauty of our communities side streets and socialize with likeminded members of the community. Volunteers can choose their own areas of the neighborhood or we can assign one to you. Gloves, litter pickers, and garbage bags will be provided by SSA 27.
